Super Duper Bargain!! WooHoo

This weekend I got the greatest bargain on baby girl clothes 0-6 months. I bought this HUGE lot of over 115 pieces for only $60! It is all Carter's and pretty much brand new. I bought it from another Military Mama here on island.
When Rob came in the bedroom where I was sorting he said "What's with all the pink"? Even he agreed that it was a super duper bargain. There is even a onesie in there that says "Don't laugh my Daddy dressed me."
Baby Vivi is set on clothes now till about 9-12 months.

Vin's Big Boy Bed

This weekend we put together Vin's big boy bedroom. Grandma Kathy gave him all the necessities to create a Disney Cars theme. He has the sheets, bedspread, throw blanket, pillows, and wall stickers. Rob got him these two cheesy plastic nightlights shaped like Lightning McQueen and Mater. He absolutely went nuts when he saw it all put together.

Here is a video of happy boy in action:

He was more than eager to climb in and roll around when it was daytime, but when it was time to sleep whoo boy! He screamed and fussed and we made about a million trips back and forth putting him back up in the dang bed so he would go to sleep. The child is stubborn (he gets that from his dad)! His new 2 year old thing to do is scream at the top of his lungs like he is on fire. It is a charming trait that I cannot wait till he outgrows. We have had 4 opportunities, so far, to sleep in the big boy bed and our average scream to sleep time is 1 hour and 15 min.

Today at nap time it took me and hour and a half of the "back to bed" dance until I was rewarded with blessed silence. Upon further inspection this is what I found...

At this point I'll take asleep on the floor over awake and screaming. I remember many a time as a child I too chose to sleep on the floor. Not because I was stubborn however, only because the floor just seems better somehow!

Bad Mama Blogger Poster

My last official blog was way back in April, I am ashamed for being so lazy. My friend Wendy posts on her blog regularly and she has 3 kids. The woman has posted while in labor, while puking on the way to the ER, and during wild animal attacks. She always posts amazing humorous narratives no matter the situation and I should take a lesson from her. I have just been lazy. I have no excuse.

I last posted pre vacation, pre summer, pre pre everything really. We have a had a very eventful past 6 months and I plan to go back and add little updates and pics so you can all get caught up. Please stay tuned and add your e-mail address to that little box over there on the right to get e-mail updates every time I add something new.

Big thanks to all of you who reminded me to update and stroke my ego on how you miss reading my jibber jabber. Watch the blog, expect fun things, and I'll do my best to deliver.

It's A Girl!!

We had our second ultrasound today and everything is progressing wonderfully. I've posted the pics below so you can confuse your brains trying to figure out what the heck you are looking at.

Big news is...IT'S A GIRL!

We plan to name her Vivianne Lorraine and she is due the last week of January 2009.

We are very excited and are looking forward to this new adventure.

Vin will be a great big brother. He already knows the sign for sister and if you ask him what the baby's name is he'll tell you it's Bib-i.

Since I am not a girly girl, I refuse to think pink...I'm going more with purple!!

A girl just like me, Lord help us all!

We're Having a Baby!

We have been trying to conceive another child ever since Vincent was born. I was getting concerned and even thought I might be defunct in some way since my c-section. I read articles, had tests, and even charted my cycles and such online...nothing really helped.

Who knew that all it took was a vacation 8192 miles for our home base. Some day and some time while we were vacationing in Florida we were able to relax enough to make it happen.

We will be welcoming baby number #2 in January 2009.

Family Vacation Part #1 - Japan to Florida

Loaded down with over packed bags we left for our first official family vacation today. Vin and I have been on the island for a year and 4 months so we are excited about the airplane trip and the adventures to come.

To actually get where we want to go we will be flying from Okinawa to Tokyo, Tokyo to San Francisco, SF to Chicago, and finally Chicago to Orlando. Total flying time 21.5 hours with an almost 2 year old and a smoker. I mention this part because they both become a major hurdle to family harmony once one is tired and bored and the other starts to jones for a smoke.

Other than being cramped together for hours on end the flights were pretty uneventful. There were the usual annoyances like zero air circulation, broken movie screens, and weird Japanese airline food but we managed in semi-good spirits. Vin busied himself with ripping up the in flight magazines and throwing his toys on the floor. I spent my time bent over retrieving the miscellaneous debris off the floor while Rob got stuck on diaper and food duty. We were all able to nap a little but mostly the flying adventure is a blurr of take off, landing, and dinging.

Tokyo to SF
When we arrived in SF we went to a hotel for a good days sleep. It was 9 a.m when we arrived and we slept till dinner time. We had a huge American dinner at Claim Jumper and then headed back to bed.
Our flight to Chicago the next day departed at 7:30 am. Vin obviously had baby amnesia and was very excited about getting on another airplane.

I'm ready to go. Let's fly!!

The flights were pretty much the same as the day before except everything was in English and the people were much more aloof and rude. Vin also decided to mix it up a bit with random fits of shrieking. When I say shrieking, imagine an annoyed cat or man on fire...that is about what it sounds like. It was weird and funny though because he would just randomly scream AUGH!! and wiggle around, then stop. We think he was only expressing what everyone always feels on long flights.

AUGH!!! = I want out of this place!

AUGH!!! = It smells in here!

AUGH!!! = Does that guy have bronchitis or what? Why is he not medicated? Why doesn't he cover his mouth for heaven sake!

AUGH!!! = My butt is asleep!

Post shriek, Groovin' to my Signing Time music.

We had a minor layover in Chicago so we let Vin run laps in the terminal in order to wear him out. He had a lot of fun running, climbing, and talking to strangers.

Checking out the airplanes with milk dripping down his chin.

Once we arrived in Orlando, Rob let Vin drive the rental car because we were just too tired.

He is a great driver and knew right where our rental house was.

Ok he did not actually drive but he sure wanted to. We arrived in Orlando at 6 p.m. and headed straight to the rental house. It was wonderful to finally stop for awhile and make ourselves comfortable. Look for the adventures to continue in Part #2 Florida.
